Amy Belfield is a dedicated infectious diseases and microbiology trainee who has found her professional haven in the North East and North Cumbria. For her, the region’s natural beauty serves as a stress-relieving retreat, allowing her to unwind and connect with friends. Having spent five years in the area, she considers it a second home and has fostered a strong network of friends. Amy emphasises the exceptional training she’s received in world-class hospitals, working alongside supportive and encouraging consultants who are eager to impart knowledge. She highlights the unique aspect of the region, housing tertiary referral centres in Newcastle, Middlesbrough, and James Cook, including a high consequence infectious diseases unit, which sets the region apart as one of only five in England.
